My Simple Words of Wisdom: Be Different & Make a Difference
For the first 18 years I enjoyed
life as a Country Boy in Waterloo, South Carolina. I was fortunate
to have all of life’s necessities: close family and a nurturing
neighborhood. It was Mom & Dad and the countryside that kept me on
the straight path: no drugs, no cigarettes, and no children. Along
with my cousins and close friends, I enjoyed my childhood to the
fullest.
My 5th Grade English Teacher
introduced me to poetry, and my 7th Grade English Teacher (Mrs.
Love) was the first to show a vested interest in my writings. She
stated, “…you are so quiet, but through your poems…I think I
finally know you.” I’ve been writing since then. Special thanks to
all of my Grade-school Teachers and College Professors…Education
is a necessity.
At age 18 I answered a calling to
the United States Air Force. My dreams of working with high-tech
aircraft and traveling the world were being fulfilled. My career
has progressed nicely and I’ve obtained several college degrees
along the way. Yes…I’ve been blessed! My writing reflects my
journey around the world: California, Japan, Alaska, The
Philippines, Malaysia, Croatia, Bosnia, Thailand, Okinawa,
Holland, England, Belgium, Amsterdam, France, and Hawaii to name a
few places. I’ve seen happiness & sadness, life & death, rich &
poor, and justice & injustice. I’ve leaned to love all people…even
if I’m not loved…that’s all that matters.
Everyone is capable of poetry…this
is mine, written 4 me. I have chosen 2 share my reality…U choose 2
read or not. Perhaps my works will inspire, bring tears, offend,
induce laughter, and stimulate your subconscious. U choose 2 read
or not. What is the truth? The truth is life’s experiences, both
mine and those of others. The truth is above, 4 some it is
below…not man or woman. Come walk with me and we shall find it…
Hobbies & Interests:
It is possible to know me for 10 years, and still not really
“know” me. I obviously enjoy Writing, but only when it
strikes me or my homework is due. I’m very much into the
Martial Arts and hold ranks in Taekwondo, Hapkido, and
Shotokan Karate. I have also studied Kempo, Jujitsu, Boxing, and
Tai Chi…it all keeps me physically and mentally fit. I wouldn’t
hurt a fly. I enjoy Travel and being immersed in other
cultures…it’s so much more than what is on television. I play
around with Music from time to time in my homemade mini
studio (keyboard, computer, and drum machine), fun only. I
absolutely love Taking Photos with my digital camera…maybe
a gallery in the near future.
